What will it take, and how long will it take, to move to a low-carbon future?

Session #1A

Session chair Robert Hill, Chair of Viva Energy, will lead a discussion on new and emerging energy solutions and reaching Net Zero carbon emissions.
Panellists including Steven Skala, of  CEFC, Barwon Water’s Shaun Cumming and Thomas Schmitz,from Equis, will discuss developments such as the latest in battery technology, the rapidly evolving world of hydrogen and biofuels, and solving solar and wind challenges.

Session #2

Session Chair Professor Iain Martin, Vice Chancellor of Deakin University, will join Thys Heyns, the GMC’s Deputy Chair,  to discuss the barriers and enablers to industry-research collaboration and the research sector’s role in driving innovative manufacturing.

Panellists including : Murray Height &  Alessandra Sutti (HeIQ); Matt Dingle (FormFlow); David Doral (Quickstep) will look at why industry and research engagements are critical for advanced manufacturing? What does it take to bridge the divide, to align interests?

Session #3

Radio host Roxie Bennett will lead a discussion on the advances in enabling technology which are helping to make Australian manufacturing globally competitive.

We will look at emerging industry enablers including the 5G network and how virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence are taking Australian research and innovation to the world.
